Operational Divisions

Academic Administration
Academic Administration is responsible for smooth administration of all academic programmes including assessments.  This division works in close contact with APIIT Malaysia and Staffordshire University.  The main academic administration functions include planning for student enrolment and staff recruitment, course coordination, administering examinations and release of results.  Student academic support services are managed while overseeing smooth functioning of the Library Resource Centre and IT Lab Resource Centre.

Research & Innovation Centre
The Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) of APIIT - Sri Lanka is committed to the fostering and dissemination of computing research within Sri Lanka. Research activities conducted by the RIC will be published in appropriate journals as well as the technology sections of popular newspapers and magazines on a regular basis.

RIC is responsible for
Conducting numerous internal knowledge-sharing sessions on popular topics such as ASP.NET, Web Services, SOAP and Software Architecture, within APIIT. These sessions have now been scheduled as i-Talks on a weekly basis where both lecturers and students participate in an exchange of ideas.
in-house software development; an Online Leave Management System, developed using Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005, was deployed recently.

Publications & Research work


Career Guidance and Job Placement Unit
APIIT-Sri Lanka believes in inculcating professionalism in students.  In the quest for developing APIIT-Sri Lanka graduates into professionals in Computing/IT and Business fields, a strong sense of professionalism is instilled in all students. Personal development, career guidance and job placement too have become as vital as academic training.

APIIT-Sri Lanka ‘Career Guidance and Job Placement Service’ provides assistance to students to plan their career and secure most suitable and high profile jobs in Computing/IT and Business Management on graduation. Students who wish to opt for industrial placements are guided to secure suitable positions in related fields.

University Placement Unit
APIIT-Sri Lanka provides opportunity to students to transfer to affiliated universities in the United Kingdom and Australia and to APIIT centres in the Asia-Pacific Region.  Students, who complete one year or two years of study at APIIT-Sri Lanka, may take advantage of this facility to attain overseas exposure. University Placement Unit provides required assistance to students ensuring seamless transfer to an affiliated university.


Quality Assurance Unit
The quality and high standards of APIIT-Sri Lanka Diploma/ Degree programmes is the outcome of years of rigorous effort and persistent commitment.  APIIT quality assurance framework comprising regular external audits by Staffordshire University, UK and APIIT-Malaysia, and internal quality assurance processes ensures that appropriate and effective teaching, support, and learning opportunities are provided to all our students.

APIIT-Sri Lanka has established a Quality Assurance Unit to coordinate all internal and external quality assurance activities with a view to ensuring high standards of delivery of all academic programmes. This unit, along with the recently formed quality circles, is geared to enhancing the quality learning experience of the students at APIIT-Sri Lanka.

Marketing
The marketing team manages APIIT-Sri Lanka's marketing function of identifying and analysing the needs and profiles of target groups, revising existing programmes and introducing new programmes to suit the requirements of employers and aspirations of prospective students and undertaking effective communication of education services provided by APIIT.  The team also promotes mutual understanding and relationship building among stakeholders, particularly the prospective and current students, staff, graduates and the industry.

Student Counselling Services
Free counselling sessions are offered to prospective students to help choose a career path and appropriate study programmes. Enquiries pertaining to student registrations are channelled through this department. Student Counsellors also assist in finding suitable accommodation for outstation students and securing student visas for international students.

General Administration
The general administration is responsible for infrastructure development, resource procurement, building maintenance, and contractual services such as cleaning and security to ensure that effective and efficient support services are provided to students and staff and an environment conducive to academic pursuits is maintained.

Finance
All financial services including collection of payment, payment to suppliers, asset management, and preparation of accounts/ financial records etc are managed by a team of finance experts.
