Introduction
APIIT Law School established in collaboration with Staffordshire University Law School, UK offers an internal British Degrees in Law, LLB (Hons) Law. The overarching goal of the APIIT Law School is to offer legal education of international standard with a view to contributing to manpower development and advancement of the legal profession.
LLB (Hons) Law programme is designed to encourage students to develop an understanding of legal concepts and working methods of the law, acquire technical expertise in solving legal problems and cultivate a critical awareness of the current legal environment.
APIIT Law School, a purpose-built Law School, consists of state-of-the-art learning infrastructure such as a modern law library, a moot court, specially designed lecture theatres, small-group tutorial rooms, IT laboratories and other support facilities.

Mission
The Mission of the APIIT Law School is to produce legal professionals who are effective in the modern legal environment. This will be achieved through attention to the following:

Aims and Objectives
The LLB (Hons) Law programme has been specifically developed to meet the needs of the modern lawyer and produce legal professionals who are enterprising, flexible and skilled across a wide area of law disciplines.
A unique feature of the Internal LLB (Hons) Law Degree is the SKILLS training programme that takes place throughout the first year. SKILLS training is conducted mostly through workshops and imparts skills such as legal problem solving, legal writing and research, client interviewing, and critical analysis. Consequently, students are equipped with not only subject knowledge but also a wide array of skills to become effective practitioners on graduation.
Graduates will be able to enter the employment market with the advantage of strong legal skills and will be equipped to embark on further stages of training for a professional career as Barristers or Solicitors in the UK and Attorneys-at-Law in Sri Lanka, after successful completion of the professional studies and training requirements set by the respective professional bodies. Alternatively, LLB (Hons) Law graduates may pursue careers as Legal Executives, Company Secretaries, Human Resource Managers, Educationalists, Consultants and Researchers.

Programme Structure
Teaching and learning is based primarily upon lectures, tutorials and workshops. Whilst lectures are very important, the main emphasis is on tutorials and workshops that promote group as well as independent learning. Workshops take a variety of forms: discussions, individual and group presentations, or tasks such as dealing with a previously unseen problem or interviewing and advising a client. These develop both legal capabilities and skills such as interviewing and problem solving.
Admission Requirements
The general requirements for admission are 2 passes in GCE Advanced Level Examination and Credit passes for English and Sinhala/Tamil in GCE Ordinary Level Examination. Advanced entry options are considered for students who have acceptable qualifications in Law.

Degree 3 years (full-time)
Examination and Assessment
The examinations and assessments are set and moderated by Staffordshire University Examiners and University Examiners external to Staffordshire University. The Degree is awarded by Staffordshire University, United Kingdom.
International Collaboration with Staffordshire University
APIIT-Sri Lanka's affiliation to Staffordshire University in the UK enables students to obtain credit transfers to complete their studies at Staffordshire University after the first year or second year of the degree programme.
