| The
Quality Framework APIIT
degree programmes are internal degree programmes and the
degree certificates awarded by Staffordshire University
are identical to those awarded to internal students studying
in the UK.
Dr. Athula Pitigala-Arachchi, CEO of APIIT
- Sri Lanka reiterating on the quality emphasis in academic
operations stated that APIIT Degree Programmes are conducted
as per the prescribed standards set by Staffordshire University.
There is often close monitoring of the facilities and the
conduct of the programmes by Staffordshire University to
assure that the required quality standards are maintained.
Further, as a higher education institute offering British
degree programmes in Sri Lanka, APIIT – Sri Lanka
comes under the purview of the Quality Assurance Agency
for Higher Education (QAA) of the United Kingdom. The Quality
Assurance Agency is an independent body that evaluates British
University awards with a view to safeguarding public interest
in sound education standards.
APIIT quality assurance framework comprising
regular external audits and validation of programmes by
Staffordshire University, UK and APIIT Malaysia and internal
quality assurance processes has ensured that appropriate
and effective teaching, support, and learning opportunities
are provided to all students.
Dr. Athula Pitigala-Arachchi pointed out
that the affiliation to over twenty one universities in
the UK and Australia is an indication of the stature in
which APIIT - Sri Lanka and its programmes are held from
an external prospective.
The establishment of a Quality Assurance
Unit headed by Dr. Upali Jayasekera, a veteran educationist,
is the latest step taken to ensure the high standards and
quality of APIIT academic programmes.
